How to get there

Kausay Wasi is accessed via Ruta 4 from Uyuni. Most visitors arrive as part of a 3-day Salar de Uyuni tour (Day 2 itinerary). Independent travellers: 4×4 only, experienced altitude driver recommended. The site sits between San Juan del Rosario and the salt flat edge.

The site sits at 3,800 metres (12,500 ft). Go slow, drink water, chew coca leaves if available. If you feel dizzy, sit down. Serious symptoms: descend immediately.

What to bring

How long

The signposted walking track is 15–30 minutes. With the museum, gallery, and stops at the apacheta cairns, budget 1–2 hours on site. Tour groups typically allocate 45–90 minutes.
